How do you support elite sport development alongside a local community?
Lommel SK’s outdated training facilities needed to be updated to create a modern football academy aligned to City Football Group’s global standards.
The new 2,300 sqm academy is located on the current training grounds. Itits alongside the Bosland National Park in Lommel. It provides high-quality spaces for both first team and youth players, including locker rooms, fitness and medical areas, meeting and education rooms, offices and a professional kitchen. The design balances elite sporting requirements with sensitivity to the surrounding natural landscape.
The investment was delivered on a fast-tracked programme which was carefully structured to meet a tight timetable, with completion aligned to the 2025-26 season.

Partnering with Lommel SK from concept to delivery
We were appointed to provide full project management and cost and commercial management services from early concept through to delivery. Working closely with Lommel SK and City Football Group, we helped turn strategic ambitions into a clear, deliverable brief.
Our team led an architectural design competition to identify a solution that met functional, aesthetic and environmental objectives. We engaged early with local authorities to support planning and environmental approvals, reducing programme risk. We also explored opportunities within the procurement strategy to leverage Lommel SK’s sponsor network, leading to 12–15% of cost savings through sponsor-led procurement.
Creating impact on and off the pitch
Sustainability and local significance were key considerations throughout the project. We prioritised local contractors and materials where possible, supporting the regional economy and reducing environmental impact.
Careful planning and design measures ensured zero disruption to the adjacent protected forest. Beyond the physical building, the academy supports education alongside sporting development and strengthens Lommel SK’s long-term presence in the community. The completed facility is a lasting investment in people, place, and performance for the club and the Lommel area.
