Project overview

Upgrading a live manufacturing site without disruption

Part of Siemens’ Smart Infrastructure division, the Balvanera site manufactures equipment for medium-voltage power distribution. To meet rising global demand, Siemens needed to scale up operations without pausing production.

The solution is a carefully sequenced programme covering the refurbishment of 22,000 sqm of production and office facilities as well as upgrades to roads, parking and security infrastructure. The phased approach allows Siemens to switch over to newly completed areas as work progresses, keeping production going while expanding output.

Project story

Coordination keeping the programme on track

We’re providing integrated project management and cost and commercial management across the full programme, working closely with Siemens Real Estate’s global and local teams and its internal client, SI EA (Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation).

Strong coordination and open communication have been key to keeping the programme on track. We’ve embedded a ‘one team’ mindset across all parties, enabling the team to make faster decisions and stay ahead of potential issues.

Regular coordination meetings with the global and local teams ensure clear communication across geographies, functions and time zones.

This joined-up approach is already delivering results, from securing the first general contractor under budget to aligning delivery with Siemens’ operational targets.

Generating local jobs and lower emissions

The upgraded Balvanera campus is designed with energy efficiency in mind, supporting Siemens’ global decarbonisation goals. The site will benefit from smarter building systems, lower-impact materials and improved operational performance, contributing to Siemens’ target of net zero by 2050.

The project is also driving local impact. At peak, it will create more than 200 construction jobs in Querétaro, with further employment expected as production capacity increases.
