project overview

A new headquarters 

Built in 1917, the landmark C30 is Shell’s oldest building in the Hague. Inspired by the Renaissance and 17th-century Dutch classicism, C30 is a listed cultural heritage building. The C30 renovation project was part of the HQ Redevelopment Programme (HQP).

The building has a gross floor area of 24,300m2 and is over six levels up from basement to the attic space and required works to both existing courtyards together with site infrastructure works. The C30 renovation project was initiated in 2015 with completion of works planned for December 2021, with final practical completion handover occurring in March 2022.

A proactive approach

Our team provided full project and cost management services and used its expertise to review the development programme and provide options to streamline and add efficiency.

With a proactive approach and commitment to ‘keeping the show on the road’, despite integral difficulties associated with the overheated construction market together with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to keep the project on programme and within budget. We also delivered more than €35 million of savings through negotiating tender submissions and challenging contractor variation claims.
