Since August 2020, we have supported the South Harbour expansion project with planning, scheduling and interface management, project controls and reporting, project management and risk management.

Following a discovery phase, we deployed a team of experts to develop a comprehensive findings and recommendation report, which was endorsed by the client’s board.

Port of Aberdeen is the UK’s oldest port, and this vital expansion ensures its future is just as bright. With Scotland’s aim to deliver greener infrastructure and improve the capacity of its shipping industry, the Port brings benefits to both the local and national economy, as well as supporting the UK’s energy transition and drive to net zero.

The South Harbour expansion officially opened in September 2023, following a successful phased start to operations. Already attracting new vessels and projects, the expanded Port of Aberdeen was expected to deliver a £2.4bn gross value added boost and support 17,500 jobs when it reached its full potential.

The project provided up to 300 jobs during construction and ongoing operations, and its South Harbour visitor centre welcomed more than 10,000 people to learn about the transformational project.

Investment in the local supply chain was key with £44m awarded to more than 30 Aberdeen/Shire-based contractors between 2020 and 2023.
