Among just two ultra-modern warehouse locations in Kenya, Nairobi Gates Industrial Park was commissioned to meet the warehousing needs of logistics and distribution companies in East Africa who were looking for secure, flexible and high-end warehousing space with grade A offices.
The first phase of the project which included delivery of the bulk infrastructure requirements and two 5,000m² - 10,000m² warehouses, was successfully commissioned and handed over in October 2020. The project has attracted widespread interest from tenants looking to lease and purchase warehouse space.
The second phase comprised the construction of a bespoke 4,000m2 warehouse for a light industry manufacturing company and was set to be completed in August 2021. The third phase comprised a mini-units development and was due to be completed in October 2021 and phase four included warehousing space for a manufacturing company and was due for completion in August 2021.
The warehouses are the first Green Building Council of South Africa and Kenya Green Star-rated building in Kenya and outside of South Africa. This is a globally-benchmarked green building certification rating system that addresses the environmental and social impacts of buildings within the built environment. Its assessment is based on analysing ten categories including: management, indoor environment quality, energy, transport, land use and ecology and emissions.
Nairobi Gate Industrial Park is ideally located only 30 minutes from two major transport and logistics hubs – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the Inland Container Depot.
We assisted the client, Impact North (KE) – which is jointly owned by Actis and Improvon, in recommending a capable consultant team to deliver and execute their objectives. Using our expertise and knowledge of the local market, we were able to advise the client on the relevant execution approach to suit their needs. With the client based in South Africa, we provided pro-active involvement with the project and played a significant role in communicating the client’s standards and objectives to achieve their vision.
