Modernising airport infrastructure across Brazil with Aena
Delivering Latin America’s biggest metro with Concessionária Linha Universidade
Transforming Latin America's largest metro infrastructure to support mobility and inclusion in São Paulo.

Project overview
How can transformative infrastructure redefine urban mobility?
The São Paulo Metro Line 6, also known as the Orange Line or University Line, is a landmark infrastructure project designed to alleviate congestion in the northern region of São Paulo.
Spanning 15.3 km and featuring 15 modern stations, the line will serve approximately 633,000 passengers daily, offering accessible, safe and comfortable transportation across the city. With three integrated bus terminals and a dedicated train yard for maintenance, the project is set to redefine urban mobility in Brazil’s largest city.
Driving performance through independent assurance
We were appointed to oversee the implementation of Line 6, providing independent consultancy services across risk mitigation, performance monitoring and quality assurance. Our role includes validating contractor data, identifying risks and opportunities and ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
Since the start of our commission, we’ve consistently been recognised for the quality and impact of our work. The project currently stands at 78% progress, with the first section expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
Empowering communities through inclusive infrastructure
Beyond improving transportation, Line 6 is a catalyst for economic and social development. The construction phase is generating around 9,000 direct jobs and numerous indirect opportunities, boosting the local economy. The project also contributes to the local community through driving over 2,600 social initiatives and 5,200 hours of volunteer work, directly benefiting more than 16,000 people in surrounding communities.
Acciona’s Sustainability Master Plan (SMP 2025) also promotes gender equality, aiming to increase female representation across roles and projects. By enhancing connectivity, fostering inclusion, and reducing pollution, Line 6 is shaping a more equitable and sustainable future for São Paulo.
“Turner & Townsend’s understanding of the project’s complexity and its ability to highlight key issues are standout aspects of their performance.”
