Re-appointed to lead Mayor of London’s Retrofit Accelerator Workplaces programme
We have been re-appointed to lead the delivery of the Mayor of London’s flagship programme Retrofit Accelerator for Workplaces.
Over the next two and a half years, we will continue to work with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to transform energy inefficient public buildings across the capital in the move towards net zero carbon. The value of the contract is £3m and is funded by the GLA and European Regional Development Fund.
Retrofit Accelerator for Workplaces is part of the Mayor’s Energy for Londoners programme which aims to make London’s homes warm, healthy and affordable, its workplaces more energy efficient, and to supply the capital with more local clean energy.
Previously known as RE:FIT, the scheme launched in 2009 and has engaged and supported hundreds of public sector organisations – including schools, NHS bodies and government departments – to successfully retrofit buildings and reduce carbon emissions.
We have been instrumental in helping the programme deliver over £100m of investment across 700 buildings in the last ten years. This includes projects for education (London School of Economics), local authorities (London Borough of Hounslow) and health (Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust).
The reappointment will see us directly provide cost management, programme and project management, low carbon energy consulting, and business case and procurement consultancy, while also leading an expert delivery team including the Carbon Trust and Ramboll.
Richard McWilliams, Director of Programme Advisory, said:
The Retrofit Accelerator for Workplaces is helping public sector organisations transform public buildings across London, playing a fundamental role in meeting zero carbon targets while delivering financial and reputational benefits for public sector organisations.
“With this programme, the capital is leading the way for the wider UK and global real estate sector, building expertise in the industry to meet the climate challenge.
As part of our continued focus on sustainability, we’re proud to continue our role in the scheme and strengthen our relationship with the Greater London Authority by leading the team through the next stages of this essential programme.
We also lead the delivery of the Mayor of London’s other Retrofit Accelerator programme which aims to transform the capital’s energy inefficient housing to create warm, affordable and ultra-low carbon homes. Retrofit Accelerator – Homes provides London boroughs and housing associations the technical expertise they need to kick-start ‘whole-house’ retrofit projects across the capital. It also helps build the supply chain and business case to accelerate the retrofit revolution for private homes.
