Positioning our business for sustainable growth in South Africa

We have relocated our Johannesburg office from Illovo to Sandton Gate, a precinct in the heart of Africa’s business capital. Having opened our first Africa office in the city in 1982, we are well positioned for sustainable growth as we enter our fifth decade in South Africa.

Our Africa business began in South Africa and has since expanded to over 300 people spread across ten countries. Nearly 200 of our people work in our three South African offices in Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, with the latter serving as a regional hub. Our new Johannesburg address is 2nd Floor, South Core, Sandton Gate, 25 Minerva Ave, Sandton, Johannesburg, 2196.

Over the last 40 years, we have delivered transformational programmes across South Africa, from developing key infrastructure, like the King Shaka International Airport in KwaZulu-Natal in the 2000s, to assisting Stellenbosch University meet its energy demand through the LSS Neelsie photovoltaic (PV) solar rooftop project, to supporting economic development programmes with the City of Cape Town.

Our Johannesburg team has also risen to meet the growing demand for data centres in Africa, most recently delivering the Vantage JNB11 Data Centre.

Empowering our local communities has also been an important part of our story in South Africa. We have a long-term partnership with Khomanani Healthcare Centre to build a more sustainable, equitable future for the community. We recently developed a daycare facility and vegetable garden, from which 400 children now receive food.

Through a ten-year commitment with the Department of Trade and Industry, we have also created 800 job opportunities for women and black-owned small enterprises across South Africa, boosting skills in quality compliance and connecting businesses through monthly workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions.

Our new Sandton Gate office has received a 4-star green rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA), ensuring that it meets environmental standards and demonstrates our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint.

Our commitment to inclusion and social responsibility is also seen in the office’s accessibility features, which include wheelchair-accessible facilities, a prayer room, voice-over lifts with Braille buttons, and a parents room.

Our new location will be near the Sandton business district, only five minutes from the Sandton CBD and close to Rosebank, Randburg, Bryanston and Hyde Park.

Stephen McCartney, Managing Director for Africa said:

As we enter our fifth decade in Africa, our new Johannesburg office reflects our commitment to sustainably growing the heart of our business in the region while also creating an environment that encourages innovation and collaboration with clients and colleagues alike.
