Strengthening our global natural resources offer with new leadership appointment in China

We have appointed Oliver Ying to lead our natural resources business in China, further strengthening our oil and gas, mining and renewables capability and enhancing our natural resources sector leadership team.

Oliver will lead the expansion of our natural resources offering in China, drawing on his extensive experience delivering complex programmes in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, chemicals and clean energy sectors.

As the Chinese economy reopens following COVID-19 restrictions, and demand for energy and commodities to power the clean energy transition accelerates, there are significant new opportunities for growth.

Based in Shanghai, Oliver will support project delivery and fabrication for both national and global clients in China. With his expertise and experience spanning China, Africa and the UK, he is uniquely positioned to support our energy and natural resources clients.

Oliver is a chartered Member of the RICS (MRICS) and brings over 22 years of experience in quantity surveying, project management, contract management, cost management and procurement management across the full asset lifecycle. He joins us following 18 years with Mott MacDonald and benefits from a thorough understanding of the ongoing investment portfolios of major players in the Chinese market.

John Fowlie, Regional Director, Natural Resources, Asia, said:

We have made significant investments in our major programmes delivery capability, including digital project controls, and Oliver’s technical expertise and experience further strengthens our managed-service capabilities.

"China, and the wider Asia region, remain a key hub for global equipment manufacturing and module fabrication, and our clients look to us for cost, schedule and progress certainty during construction of these major components. A key priority of our business’ vision to transform performance for a green, inclusive and productive world is to assist our clients in successfully delivering assets that meet the growing demand for energy, provide energy security and support the clean energy transition."

Oliver Ying, Director, said:

I look forward to working with a team that is deeply passionate and committed to helping the industry improve productivity and sustainability across major project and programme delivery.
