Project overview

How do you deliver a metro for six million people?

Sydney Metro’s revolutionising how people travel across Australia’s biggest city. It’s a once-in-a-generation infrastructure programme that will connect communities and major employment hubs across Greater Sydney and beyond.

Once complete, the 113km metro rail network will have 46 fully accessible stations served by high-frequency, driverless trains. Passenger capacity will almost double to 40,000 people an hour, providing vital additional capacity as Sydney’s population approaches six million.

Project story

Keeping a city-wide rail programme on track

This is one of the most ambitious rail infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Australia and it’s setting a new benchmark for transport planning and sustainable urban development.

We lead the programme’s portfolio-wide Project Management Office (PMO-S) service. Our role spans every active metro project, as well as planning for future network expansion.

Working with programme partners HKA, Deloitte, and Logikal, we’ve brought clarity and consistency to how the programme runs day-to-day. Strong controls and clear decision-making frameworks help teams stay aligned and keep delivery focused.

Digital capability plays a key role. Advanced controls, clear reporting and tools such as 5D Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital twins give teams better visibility and tighter control over cost, schedule and risk.

Alongside this, we advise Transport for NSW on business case development, procurement strategy and contract management – helping each phase stand up to scrutiny and stay focused on long-term value.

Serving Sydney today and tomorrow

The Sydney Metro programme will do more than move people. By 2036, the network is expected to cut more than 80,000 car journeys from Sydney’s roads each weekday, easing congestion and reducing emissions. The programme’s also creating wider economic and social benefits. For example, more than 500 recognised Indigenous businesses are already engaged across work packages, helping to build skills, capability and opportunity.

By putting the right strategy, systems and controls in place, we’re ensuring Sydney Metro can keep delivering for the city and its people.
