Hangar 1 at Moffett Federal Airfield
Planetary Ventures, a subsidiary of Google, has restored Hangar 1 at Moffett Federal Airfield – preserving a landmark that has shaped the Silicon Valley skyline since the 1930s.
Working in partnership with CBRE, we provided comprehensive project controls and commercial management for this complex historic restoration. Our role included budget oversight, procurement and risk mitigation, helping the project stay on track for completion in December 2025.
The restoration upgraded the building fabric, replicating the original design while adding modern improvements, including new ventilation and bird-safety features. The project preserves an iconic piece of aviation history for generations to come.

Developing the pioneering nuclear project Hinkley Point C with EDF

Hinkley point c
Hinkley Point C is one of the UK’s most significant low-carbon energy projects. Once complete, the 3,200 MWe nuclear facility will provide enough clean energy to power six million homes for 60 years and offset nine million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
We’ve supported the project since 2011. In 2015, EDF appointed us to lead project controls and renewed our contract at the end of 2025 – reflecting more than a decade of trusted delivery. As the programme has evolved, so has our role, and we’ve adapted our support to meet new challenges and priorities.
Beyond its clean energy impact, the project is driving major economic value. It currently supports 3,800 UK suppliers and will create 71,000 jobs by completion. EDF has invested £24m in local education – supporting 8,000 trainees and 1,320 apprentices across the region.
"Turner & Townsend have been a key embedded contractor and supplier for us since we started the Hinkley Point C project. They supply very skilled candidates across lots of different disciplines, such as supply-chain, project management [and project controls]. We’ve had a longstanding 10-year framework in place since 2025.
That’s led to a very successful and transparent relationship."

Reshaping Sydney's waterfront with Infrastructure NSW

Sydney Fish Market
The new Sydney Fish Market is a landmark harbourfront project and the centrepiece of the NSW Government's Bays Precinct Renewal Programme.
Appointed in 2021, as lead delivery partner we project-managed the construction works and the transition from the old site. Working closely with consultants, contractors and government stakeholders, we kept the project moving through a technically challenging build. Our team managed risk and quality, and used targeted value engineering to bring the project in under budget without compromising ambition.
Opened in 2026, the new market includes 6,000 sqm of public space, improved transport links and a distinctive wave-like roof inspired by the site’s maritime heritage. Expected to welcome up to six million visitors each year, the project has also created more than 700 jobs, awarded $670m in contracts to Australian businesses and achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating.
“Turner & Townsend played a critical role in maintaining programme certainty, managing complex interfaces and keeping stakeholders aligned throughout delivery. Their team brought strong commercial judgment and calm leadership during key pressure points on the project. Their contribution was instrumental in achieving a successful delivery outcome.”

Establishing robust project controls with MTA

MTA Project Controls
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) runs the largest transportation network in North America – serving more than 15 million people across New York and the surrounding region. To keep up with demand and evolving infrastructure needs, MTA is delivering a $65bn capital plan for 2025 - 2029.
We partnered with the MTA Construction and Development team to design an integrated project controls and project management framework for the investment. The framework brings transparency and gives leaders a reliable source of information for strategic decision-making. Our specialists in risk, cost estimating, scheduling and performance reporting are helping to embed consistent standards across the programme.
This unified approach reduces delivery risk, improves value for money and supports a more reliable, accessible and sustainable transit system for millions of New Yorkers.

Connecting Ireland to mainland Europe with EirGrid

CELTIC INTERCONNECTOR
The Celtic Interconnector is one of Europe’s most significant energy infrastructure projects. The project creates Ireland’s first direct electricity link to mainland Europe, strengthening energy security and supporting Ireland’s transition to renewable power. Once complete, the €1.6bn interconnector will enable the exchange of 700 MW of electricity between Ireland and France – supporting renewable energy growth and helping create a more connected European electricity market.
We have supported EirGrid since the project's development phase began in 2020, providing project, contract and commercial management support across every stage of delivery. Working closely with teams in Ireland and France, we’ve helped to manage the delivery of onshore and offshore cable systems, converter stations and high-risk interfaces.
The project is also generating economic benefits for local communities – with around 200 workers employed on the project at peak times and over €1.6m already awarded through a community benefit fund supporting initiatives across East Cork.

Supporting local enterprise and revitalising trade with the City of Cape Town

cape town economic DEVELOPMENT
Through its Area Economic Development programme, the City of Cape Town is investing in safer, better-equipped spaces for informal traders – revitalising markets and trading areas across the city to support local enterprise and community.
As lead of the Turner & Townsend / Bergstan JV Consortium, we delivered 64 projects across the city, managing everything from stakeholder engagement to procurement, cost control and delivery oversight. Working closely with traders and community representatives, we ensured every upgrade met local needs while preserving the character and identity that make these spaces unique.
Markets in areas like Pelican Park, Bo-Kaap, Khayelitsha and Gatesville are now safer, cleaner and more welcoming – helping informal businesses to thrive and creating opportunities for local people. The programme has created a scalable, community-sensitive model for inclusive growth that protects local heritage and strengthens Cape Town’s informal economy.
