Diversifying the workplace: a new partnership with BPIC

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Black Professionals In Construction (BPIC) Network to expand our talent pipeline and attract more black and minority ethnic professionals who wish to grow careers in the industry.

The construction industry performs an integral role in the UK economy, with the UK construction market forecast to generate £476.6 bn by 2027. Although ethnic minorities play a significant role in the working population, they are massively underrepresented in the construction industry forming just 4 percent of workers.

The BPIC Network collaborates with various companies within the industry to improve inclusion and to ensure that there are enhanced opportunities for those currently working in and aspiring to join the industry. Together we are working to increase ethnic diversity at all levels and, most importantly, we wish to ensure we create a positive environment so individuals can excel without limitation.

At Turner & Townsend we strive to establish new partnerships with organisations that support us in our commitment to inclusion. Our employee networks are pivotal to this and help us understand the changes that matter to our people.

With the help of BPIC, we aim to provide greater support to those currently working in the industry and ensure we are reaching young emerging black, Asian and minority ethnic professionals looking to join the industry. Our long-term goal is to increase representation at all levels of our business, ensuring we foster a positive environment for individuals to develop without limitation.

Project Controls Manager and UK One Employee Network (OEN) Lead, Pam Page said:

We are thrilled to be partnering with the BPIC team to bring our vision of becoming a truly authentic, diverse and inclusive organisation to life. By increasing the diversity of our talent pipeline and creating opportunities to connect with industry change masters, we are committed to our vision of inclusion and succeeding in a truly diverse workplace.

BPIC Managing Director, Amos Simbo, added:

“We are thrilled to welcome Turner and Towsend as a new partner. At BPIC Network, we firmly believe that diversity is not just a goal; it's a strategic imperative. It's not about meeting quotas; it's about creating a workplace where every voice is heard, every perspective is valued, and every individual can bring their whole self to work.”

Our partnership represents a commitment to fostering an environment where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated. We understand that true innovation and success come from embracing the rich tapestry of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that our diverse workforce brings to the table.

“We are excited to embark on this journey together and look forward to the positive impact we can make on our organisations.”
