The Shard has won ENR’s Global Project of the Year award.

Hosted in New York, ENR Global Best Projects Awards is dedicated to honoring the best global construction projects and the companies that designed and built them.

We project managed the 310m vertical city which has transformed London’s skyline. The tower, developed by Sellar Property Group, contains a 5* internationally recognized Shangri-La Hotel, London’s highest viewing gallery offering 360 degree views of the city, high end office space, exclusive residential apartments and restaurants within its 72 floors. Designed the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, it is the tallest building in Western Europe.

Construction of the project began in March 2009, was completed in April 2012 and was officially opened on 5 July 2012.

Bruce McAra, Chief Executive Officer, North America commented. “It’s a great honor to be recognised by an American publication for this important project in the UK.  What’s even better is the fact that the growth of our US business is now able to offer our wider global business recognition and support to better serve our clients.  It is really thrilling and satisfying to see how far we have come in just a few years and how positive the future looks.”

Robert Deatker, project director on the Shard said “Turner & Townsend is proud to have project managed such an iconic building. It was a fantastic project to work on and this award recognises the diverse international project team involved.”
