Leading delivery of London’s major cancer research and treatment facility

We have been appointed to lead the delivery of a major healthcare project in the heart of London, on behalf of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

Known as The Royal Marsden Chelsea Development, the healthcare project aims to significantly expand and upgrade facilities at the trust’s existing Chelsea estate on Fulham Road, London. The expansion will deliver a newly integrated environment for research, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for those living with, in remission of, and beyond cancer.

Alongside the full project design team, including lead architect Stanton Williams, engineers Hoare Lea, structural engineers Ramboll and cost consultants Gardiner & Theobald, we will deliver principal designer, construction logistics, and programme scheduler services in addition to our lead role as project manager.

Sunil Vyas, Director of Projects & Estates, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust said:

The appointment of the design team for the expansion and upgrade of our cancer research and treatment facility marks a major step forward in the hospital’s plans to continue to be at the forefront of cutting-edge research advances to patients.

"We need to grow and modernise in order to meet the increasing demand for our services and still have the space to conduct our practice-changing research whilst improving every part of the cancer experience for patients across the UK and around the world. We look forward to working with Turner & Townsend and all other partners who will help bring this vision to life.”

Graham Dodd, Associate Director, said:

“We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver this prestigious project on behalf of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

The facility will be delivered on a constrained central London site, and we believe that our combined offering, including construction logistics, will provide added value to the trust in the delivery of this significant project.”

“Our combined wealth of knowledge and expertise in the healthcare sector, as well as our digital-led approach, will deliver a centre that will allow the client to integrate the latest research advances into the whole patient journey and help improve cancer survival for its patients.”

The appointment of the project design team is a major milestone in the delivery of The Royal Marsden Chelsea Development, which is currently at RIBA stage 2/ early-stage designs.
