Every year, as part of our ongoing commitment to provide a safe working environment for our people, we promote health, safety and wellbeing issues in a global week-long campaign. Our themes this year were personal responsibility and leadership.
We promoted personal responsibility through a series of communication campaigns, knowledge shares and safety quizzes; highlighting scenarios where individuals are at the centre of safety decision-making and can make the right choices to protect themselves and others. As part of the campaign, we asked everyone to make a personal commitment to safety by signing up to our safety tree.
We celebrated safety leadership with the presentation of awards to teams and individuals who have made an impact on the behaviours of others in the last year. One of the winners was our team of champions at our Heathrow airport commission. They were proactive in developing an updated set of information cards that are used in all our meetings to address essential safety, health and wellbeing themes.
“The cards have been a really valuable initiative to prompt meaningful health and safety discussions at the beginning of meetings and will help to build greater awareness and understanding of these important topics.”
Gurjit Dhanoa, Assistant Project Manager, who chaired the group said: “Our team developed a proposal to produce a more relevant and engaging card pack. This included expanding the content focused on wellbeing and changing the structure to incorporate questions, statistics and case studies.
