A flagship terminal for a global brand
Terminal H is a statement of MSC Cruises’ identity. Located in one of the company’s key home ports, the new terminal strengthens MSC’s presence in the Mediterranean and reimagines the cruise experience from the moment passengers arrive.
Designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura and inspired by Barcelona’s artistic heritage, the terminal features generous retail space, dedicated waiting areas and a private VIP lounge shaped around comfort, flow and experience.
Driving efficiency and productivity
In 2022, MSC asked us to take over as project manager. We began with a detailed review of the programme, identifying where time, cost and design could be improved. From there, we established a robust control framework, reset the budget and schedule and coordinated a technical redesign aligned with MSC’s updated objectives.
Our recommendation to adopt a collaborative contract with the contractor created transparency, shared responsibility and faster issue resolution.
We provided hands-on management throughout, overseeing construction, procurement, tendering and quality assurance, establishing a straightforward, collaborative way of working that restored confidence and helped the project move forward efficiently.
A key factor in the project’s success was also our ability to manage the complex delivery environment, coordinating closely with the Port of Barcelona, local authorities and MSC to ensure the terminal met the highest technical, environmental and design standards.
A catalyst for sustainable tourism and economic growth
Sustainability was a priority from the outset for the MSC Terminal. The port integrates solar panels, rainwater-reuse systems and future shore-to-ship power, reducing emissions while vessels are docked. These measures reflect MSC’s commitment to responsible cruise operations and have earned the terminal LEED Gold certification.
The terminal is also a driver of local economic activity, creating jobs and supporting tourism-focused businesses across the region.
