A trusted partnership
Together with our joint venture partners, we’ve worked with the MOD (the government department responsible for the UK's security and independence) for over a decade. We entered the joint venture in 2018 with Jacobs, forming the Equinox framework.
Through this, we were appointed as the Programme Delivery Partner for Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), the MOD’s Arms Length Body responsible for delivering equipment and support services to the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, in addition to the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), to improve efficiency and delivery performance across the department’s operations.
In the six years that followed, we have successfully delivered hundreds of projects and programmes, supplying over 3,200 people and delivering numerous specialist tasks, achieving 100 percent of our quality and operational goals.
Ensuring a secure and sustainable supply chain
In 2024, with new joint venture partner Amentum, we were reappointed as joint Programme Delivery partner by DE&S to its new Project Delivery Partner-Successor framework. As a result, we will continue to provide programme and operational delivery support across all MOD government departments, spanning the UK’s global defence operations.
Drawing on the support of a 26-strong supply chain, we are ensuring the MOD sustains a modern, capable and highly adaptable armed forces as the UK navigates a complex defence landscape. We facilitate this through managing organisational change, transforming efficiency and productivity, designing, implementing and embedding operating model changes that drive value.
A key element of our work as the MOD’s Project Delivery Partner will be the setup and delivery of the AUKUS pact, which will develop the next generation of nuclear submarines.
We are also supporting Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and the Navy in delivering critical infrastructure upgrades at key UK naval bases.
Reducing carbon and supporting communities
We are advising the MOD on their net zero 2050 strategy, as well as on people initiatives to support their drive to become a more inclusive organisation. So far, we have identified more than 131 thousand tonnes of carbon savings and delivered more than £1.47bn of client approved efficiency savings.
We have consistently surpassed the MOD’s 25 percent Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) spend targets, demonstrating our commitment to fostering a diverse and resilient supply chain.
Through work with the Equinox charity partners, Envision, we have delivered seven STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education events with local schools in less privileged areas, engaging more than 200 students, strengthening their essential skills and raising awareness of careers in defence.
Simon Hughes, Director Policy, Professions & Portfolio Office, DE&S, UK MOD, said:
PDP has been a great example of DE&S’s collaboration our with industry partners as we strive to be better, faster and more efficient.
"I am proud to have been part of this journey of innovation, adaptability and change.”
