Developing state-of-the-art facilities

Braunschweig Municipal Hospital in Germany is undergoing a major investment programme to improve workflows, increase capacity and boost overall efficiency. This includes building new and refurbishing existing facilities, while regular hospital operations continue.

Once completed, the hospital will be one of the largest in Germany with 1,499 beds and employing nearly 4,000 people. The complex includes 21 clinics, 10 independent clinical departments and seven institutes covering almost every medical field. Each year, the hospital treats over 50,000 in-patients and approximately 200,000 out-patients.

Enhancing efficiency through digital tools

We were commissioned to provide comprehensive construction project management, including cost and commercial management, building information modelling (BIM) consultancy and management and quality control services across all phases of the project. Construction works have started for the new building South, with delivery scheduled for 2029.

Our team have a full-time presence on site, allowing us to work in close cooperation with the client, to consistently deliver high quality results and keep the project on track.

Through our digital approach, we’re adding value to the project contribution for the ongoing operation of the asset.

Improving healthcare outcomes

The new infrastructure supports specialised centres such as the Head Centre and Integrated Radiology clinic. This will improve interdisciplinary cooperation and support faster and more accurate patient diagnostics.

With our experience in healthcare project management and in-depth understanding of location-specific requirements, our team of experts is contributing to the sustainable operation of the facility.

Friedrich Prem, Customer Representative, Head of Construction and Technology Division, Change Management Department Head, Städtisches Klinikum Braunschweig gGmbH, said:

Hospital projects are very complex. The building requirements are very particular and require a partner with in-depth knowledge in the hospital realm. With its experienced team, Turner & Townsend was an obvious choice for us.
