Turner & Townsend to support EDF at Hinkley Point C and across nuclear operations
Turner & Townsend, the global professional services company, has been reappointed to the Professional Services Framework for Hinkley Point C (HPC), continuing its long-standing role supporting EDF on the UK’s first nuclear power station in a generation.
In addition to this renewed appointment, Turner & Townsend has also been selected to support EDF’s nuclear operations, which manages the UK’s existing fleet of nuclear power stations.
The frameworks cover an initial five-year term, with options to extend by up to a further five years. Turner & Townsend will continue providing a full suite of services, including project management, cost and commercial management, controls and performance and digital.
The appointment also provides opportunities to deliver further optional services across programme advisory and asset management. This builds on a relationship going back to 2011, with Turner & Townsend supporting HPC through multiple phases of its development.
As HPC moves towards commissioning, Turner & Townsend’s continued involvement will help deliver one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes. Once operational, the power station will provide low-carbon electricity for millions of homes for at least 60 years, reinforcing the UK’s long-term energy strategy.
The project has already trained more than 1,700 apprentices, including over 10 through Turner & Townsend, helping build vital skills for the future of the UK nuclear industry.
Turner & Townsend’s expanded remit under EDF’s nuclear operations strengthens Turner & Townsend’s role across the UK’s operational nuclear portfolio, supporting safe, reliable and efficient power generation as the fleet continues contributing to national energy security. This broadened scope reflects the company’s strategic partnership with EDF and its capability to support nuclear assets across their full lifecycle.
Alan Sinclair, Director and Head of Energy and Natural Resources, UK at Turner & Townsend said:
Our continued role on Hinkley Point C and our expanded support to EDF’s Nuclear Operations demonstrate the strength of our long-term partnership with EDF and our expertise across the full nuclear asset lifecycle.
“We are proud to continue contributing to nationally significant infrastructure, from supporting the delivery of new nuclear generation at HPC to enhancing performance across the existing power station fleet.”
