Turner & Townsend appoints new Head of Infrastructure in the Netherlands

Global professional services company, Turner & Townsend, has appointed Sander den Blanken as its new Head of Infrastructure in the Netherlands.

Sander brings more than 25 years of senior leadership experience across the infrastructure lifecycle, spanning design, engineering, construction, asset management and strategic advisory. He has a proven track record of delivering financial performance, organisational transformation and sustainable growth.

He joins Turner & Townsend from BAM Infra Nederland, where he served as Director Commercial Business Development. Previously, Sander held Managing Director roles at BAM Infra Asset Management and BAM Infraconsult, successfully turning around underperforming businesses.

Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade at Arup Netherlands, including four years as Managing Director and Country Leader.

Sander has worked on major infrastructure programmes across highways, bridges, rail, energy and urban mobility, including landmark projects for Rijkswaterstaat. Sander also holds several senior leadership roles within the Dutch infrastructure sector, including Chair of the Concrete Association and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Structural Engineers Register.

At Turner & Townsend, Sander will lead Turner & Townsend’s infrastructure business in the Netherlands and support the growth of its programme and project management activities across the Benelux region.

Remco Kroeze, Managing Director, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, at Turner & Townsend, said:

“Infrastructure represents a key growth area for Turner & Townsend and with his 25 years of experience in the sector and proven expertise in delivering complex, high profile projects, Sander is ideally placed to lead our team in the Netherlands as it embarks on the next phase of its growth.”

Sander den Blanken, Head of Infrastructure, Netherlands, at Turner & Townsend, added:

“The infrastructure sector is undergoing fundamental change, driven by decarbonisation, ageing asset renewal, the energy transition and the need for resilient, digitally enabled networks. In this context, progress is achieved through disciplined execution and many small steps taken consistently."

Turner & Townsend uniquely combines global expertise with strong local delivery, providing a powerful platform to turn strategy into results.

"I’m excited to contribute to the next phase of growth and to work with the team to deliver tangible impact for clients, step by step."
