Client's requirements

The City of Cape Town has planned the rollout of the City Integrated Rapid Transit System in four different phases.  Phase 1 is now complete and phase 2A will see the development of the Metro South East Corridor. It will provide access to affordable mass transportation for about 40 percent of the city’s population and has reached the detailed design and construction stage.

Our contribution

The City of Cape Town Transport requires the support of a professional project management team to develop, maintain and manage the overall implementation programme, related budget and cash flow forecasts for the ongoing rollout of the City’s Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) programme.

The team is also required to guide and coordinate the complex, interrelated work streams and City-appointed professional teams to deliver on the programmed rollout objectives.

We have been appointed to manage the overall programme rollout for the development and commissioning of the IRT system, which includes:

We will ensure the delivery of the project objectives, which include:

Making the difference

As an independent, international, privately-listed company, we are uniquely placed to look after the client’s interests throughout the project by simultaneously providing access to local skills and global best practice.

We recognise that project success depends on effective knowledge management and the ability to provide an external interface to maintain project momentum, alleviating ‘project fatigue’ that often occurs in long running projects.

Our team is led by senior project management professionals and understands the importance of managing complex stakeholder relationships at local and national level. This enables us to facilitate delivery of the largest project ever undertaken by the City of Cape Town.
