São Paulo Office Fit-out and Relocation, Uber

Running out of space to expand into, Uber secured investment to relocate into the Corporate Tower complex in São Paulo’s central/south zone.

We were contracted to support the building selection process, set-up the project procurement strategy, run the procurement events to assemble a high-quality, motivated team of delivery partners.  We then provided expert project and cost management.

João Paulo Savio de Carvalho Find Build Run Manager – Brazil Uber:

From day 1 this project was a challenge. We had a fast growing headcount, already working in a small space and finding creative temporary solutions for it. Also from a financial perspective there were several rounds of discussions (that weren't easy most of the time) with Finance, Landlord and General Contractor, but in the end we managed to reach great savings and conditions. In conclusion, we accomplished the delivery of a space that is cost efficient, comfortable, modern and that will definitely contribute to the progress and success of the region’s operation and culture! I would like to compliment the Turner & Townsend team for the excellent job on the delivery of this project, specially Aline for her commitment and hard working with our new office, it was a successful project and Turner & Townsend is part of that, thank you all!”

Client’s requirements

Uber’s growth in Latin America is unprecedented, so much so that they outgrew their Brazil HQ in São Paulo three times in two years. Running out of space to expand into, they secured investment to relocate into 5,800m² of AAA corporate space in the Corporate Tower complex in São Paulo’s central/south zone.

Our contribution

We were contracted to support the building selection process, set-up the project procurement strategy, run the procurement events to assemble a high-quality, motivated team of delivery partners.  We then provided expert project and cost management to deliver the project design, construction and close-out phases under budget and within schedule.

The project exceeded client expectations in terms of quality, cost and time.

Making the difference

  • Working with a light client stakeholder team meant we had to advise and guide Uber on many issues outside our core scope of service – brokerage and transactions, FM, change management, finance, contract services and technology strategies.
  • To maximise the project scope for the client we proposed a lean delivery team who worked hard to prioritise essentials and streamline procurement. This team delivered the project extremely efficiently and intelligently.
