Our contribution included delivering project management services for phase one of the campus development.
Date started: 2015
Completion date: 2018
Lucknow is the capital and largest city of the Indian state Uttar Pradesh and the location for the state government’s plan to create an IT hub in the region.
HCL, an Indian multinational IT services company, is setting up an ambitious 100-acre IT City in Lucknow. The site will focus on application development, software testing, and infrastructure support management services, for Indian and global clients. The project has been granted Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to increase trade, investment and job creation.
Turner & Townsend has been commissioned to deliver project management services for phase one of the campus development.
We are supporting the delivery of IT buildings, skill development centres, cafeteria, support annexe and utility buildings across a 33-acre site, plus infrastructure development of the complete 100-acre site. The total built up area is approximately 0.86million square feet.
Our scope includes timely and safe delivery of the different buildings in a phased manner, as per the quality standards and requirements of HCL.
Making the difference
HCL IT City Lucknow is the second large programme in an expanding relationship with HCL in India. We have supported the company on several developments at multiple locations in the last few years.
For this campus development we had deployed an expat project manager, an expert in pre-engineered buildings (PEB) to support the initial stages of the project in proper planning and smooth erection of the PEB structures, in line with the first project milestone involving a skill development centre and an IT building.
An ambitious schedule was set for the first milestone. The State Chief Minister commended the development of a world-class training centre in record time.
Our multidisciplinary project management team is fully integrated with HCL and other project stakeholders and has successfully managed 143 contracts for 41 contractors working on this project.
We are also efficiently tracking and monitoring quality, health and safety and have achieved 9.5 million safe man-hours to date.
