Netherlands’ largest technical university

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is the largest university of technology in the Netherlands with approximately 25,000 students and 6,000 employees. TU Delft is renowned for pioneering research, excellent teaching methods and its innovative collaboration with external partners, all with the aim of making a meaningful impact for a better world.

The mission of the Campus and Real Estate (CRE) department is to create an environment where students, scholars and staff can contribute to this goal.

CRE develops and manages TU Delft’s building and grounds. This includes area development, new buildings and renovations, management and maintenance, and the supply of energy on campus.

The CRE has developed a ten-year campus strategy with a rolling forecast. It involves delivering new high-tech, energy-efficient future-proofed facilities, refurbishing existing buildings to be fit-for-purpose, and landscaping improvements as part of the overall campus masterplan.

Global PMO best practice

Building on our track-record of running major real estate programmes in Europe, we were appointed to establish a Programme Management Office (PMO) for the CRE to support the University’s strategic vision and complex capital delivery plans.

Using our international PMO expertise we are standardising the University’s real estate delivery processes and providing project assurance. This will enable the University to have full oversight of their portfolio through trusted data, reporting and performance analytics, the right governance to support their decision-making and identify operational efficiencies.

Technical capability

In addition to building the PMO, we’ve demonstrated through our local technical capabilities that we can act as a trusted partner to deliver highly-specialised university facilities to carry out their cutting-edge scientific, engineering and technological research and teaching.

As a result, we were recently appointed to manage the strategic Campus Middle and Campus South delivery programmes. These programmes involve new build projects, renovation and refurbishment projects, infrastructure, laboratory and cleanroom projects, including research and quantum laboratories for the University’s partners such as TNO (QuTech) and Microsoft.
