Enhancing the guest experience at an iconic Dubai hotel
The iconic Atlantis, The Palm is undergoing the largest hotel refurbishment in the United Arab Emirates, all while the building is still operational. As a major attraction and leisure resort in Dubai, Atlantis is helping to realise the Dubai government’s ambition of the city being a prime global tourist destination.

Over the last four and a half years, the iconic Atlantis, The Palm hotel has been undergoing a major USD100m refurbishment programme, overhauling a number of guest facilities, as well as 1,548 bedrooms and suites. Located on a man-made island, the hotel complex spans a massive 46 hectares, with 17 hectares of waterpark alone.
Crucially, this needed to happen without the guest experience being affected. The iconic five-star resort, which is one of Dubai’s top tourist destinations, has maintained exceptionally high occupancy rates throughout the project and has continued to offer impeccable service to guests.
We have provided project management and cost management services for the client as it sought to undertake the renovation work over a five-year programme. As well as refreshing the guest rooms, the exterior of the building was also refurbished.
During the construction period, the resort has welcomed a number of new food and beverage offerings to underline its place as a leading culinary destination. New arrivals include the world-renowned Hakkasan and the city’s ultimate all-in-one entertainment hotspot Wavehouse.
We have played a role in expanding the hotel’s Aquaventure Waterpark, adding a new kids’ zone comprising seven new waterslides, water play equipment and a pirate ship play area. We are also involved in the exciting addition of a third tower, Trident Tower, which will introduce 12 incredible new slides to the Atlantis Aquaventure offering. When the new area is complete next year, it will enhance Aquaventure’s position as one of the world’s biggest waterparks.
Making the difference
We have become a trusted advisor for the client and have developed and implemented delivery strategies in response to its requirements. So far, we have handed over 80 percent of the guest rooms and suites and continue to be ahead of schedule and under budget.
