The smart use of data and artificial intelligence should not be the future but the present of the construction industry.
Sam Mendoza
I provide cost advice to clients in feasibility studies, final business cases, cost estimating, procurement and contract management in infrastructure projects. I take a collaborative approach, building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders and I enjoy leading and managing teams achieving project outcomes.
My experience spans pre- and post-contract cost estimation, contract management, procurement, project change control and cost management in large infrastructure projects worth several billion dollars. My passion for the construction industry has driven me to gain experience in light rail, heavy rail, roads and urban design both in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Q. How has your career at Turner & Townsend developed?

A. It’s truly amazing how my career has progressed at Turner & Townsend. I joined as a graduate in 2015 working in Bristol, UK. Now in 2019, I’m a senior cost manager leading a team of great professionals delivering some of the most transformational transport projects in Australia.

Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?

A. I’m currently involved in the delivery of Parramatta Light Rail – a transport project set to change the shape of the city of Parramatta. This project is a key element in the government's plan to renovate Greater Sydney and respond to population growth. A truly transformational project! Another highlight was being selected to represent Australia & New Zealand in the Chairman’s Group 2018/19.

Q. What is the emerging trend in your industry specialism and how are you responding to this?

A. Digitation and data! The smart use of data and the integration with AI technology is already part of our day to day life, more than you would think. I believe the construction industry is the next one to go through a transformative journey. Turner & Townsend is already investing in digital solutions to be at the front of the change process.
