As our Chief Digital Officer, my role is to guide and steer the development of our digital-programme services, capability and propositions to clients, creating and adding value to their businesses and programmes.

I take considerable pride in helping our brilliantly diverse and representative teams thrive in a dynamic team of over 250 digital and transformation consultants, as part of a rapidly growing, globally-integrated business. Co-creating solutions that transform performance for clients and partners is a highlight of my role – and seeing an improved legacy and results fills me with pride.

Having spent time in the US, Europe and the UK, working in infrastructure and technology, I use the skills and experiences from management consulting, risk management, construction, engineering, design and project management, with a deep heritage in commercial and economic value creation, to help my teams and clients make a success of digital tools, systems and transformation.

Q. What attracted you to join Turner & Townsend?

A. The ambition to transform performance on the most complex programmes on our planet.

Q. How has your career at Turner & Townsend developed?

A. As our first CDO, I am incredibly excited to be placing digital at the heart of our offering, and help colleagues make the best of their time working with us.

Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?

A. Our projects that enable national, economic and societal prosperity this then allows a safe space for innovation to occur, helping us tackle environmental, social and economic issues.

Q. Detail any specialist skills or experience for which you are known.

A. Helping clients and teams understand, scope and manage the breadth and complexity of digital and data in major programmes – think big, but start small.

Q. Describe your typical day.

A. Having planned the week in advance, after an early-morning walk or jog, it’s off to a different city or region most days, meeting teams who are working with clients. Typically, I would then work with peers on business performance and propositions, give or receive mentoring (we have a brilliant reverse-mentoring programme) and then either a client discussion in the evening, team get-togethers or a long trip home to reflect on the impact and contribution made that, and every day.

Q. What do you most enjoy most about working at Turner & Townsend?

A. Watching colleagues co-create ideas and solutions and helping them form these into compelling market propositions.

Q. What is the emerging trend in your industry specialism and how are you responding to this?

A. Getting value from data – there is no shortage of data and information, but organising it, presenting it and using it well is now the grand digital challenge of our decade. I’m proud our firm is committed to helping clients make a success of data.
