Harriet is a fantastic individual who is intelligent, friendly, passionate, proactive and outspoken (in a good way).Simon Taylor, Head of Programme Planning, HS2 Ltd
During my apprenticeship and graduate programme I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work for a major O&G client on a global programme management office commission, as well as High Speed 2 and now Battersea Power Station - as a project manager overseeing its change control governance processes.
Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?
A. I’m proud of working on two Turner & Townsend projects: HS2 and Battersea Power Station.
At HS2, I helped develop the baseline programme, a time critical activity to provide the Department for Transport with a robust estimate of Europe’s largest infrastructure programme. My grandfather actually fought a fire on top of Battersea Power Station during World War 2. I still have a personal connection to such an iconic building.
Q. How do you contribute to Turner & Townsend making a difference?
A. I’m working hard to positively promote apprenticeships in STEM subjects as people still have a very stereotypical view of apprenticeships. I’m keen to change the perception as well as eradicating the challenges that apprentices may face. I’ve also been doing presentations at schools about apprenticeships.
Q. How do you see your career progressing at Turner & Townsend?
A. I’m working on finishing the graduate programme at Turner & Townsend and this will potentially mean becoming a project manager. I’m then going to work towards finishing my degree in construction project management. Once this is completed I’m going to work abroad with Turner & Townsend.
