Colm Lavery
I’m passionate about our business and providing opportunities for our people and supporting great client outcomes. My role currently involves leading our Belfast Office, managing a great professional team across real estate and infrastructure and delivering positive results for our clients across Northern Ireland.

Having graduated from Ulster University, I spent my initial 13 years working for small local practices in Northern Ireland. I then joined EC Harris as Office Lead in 2007 and joined Turner & Townsend in March 2015 as Director.

During my career, I have helped shape and deliver successful outcomes for clients across some of Northern Ireland's most important and prestigious projects. My role includes managing our people, from their health and wellbeing to ensuring top quality delivery of our services to clients. I have hands on experience in operations, sales, bid writing, finance, procurement, governance and strategy. In 2018, I was given the opportunity for eight months as Account Director across 22 European countries delivering cost management office (CMO) and support project management for Global CRE clients, based out of Amsterdam. This was a great success in securing additional commissions and a further extension of our European contracts.

Q. Which project are you most proud of being involved in at Turner & Townsend?

A. The £107m Energy from Waste facility adjacent to the Bombardier Aerospace site in Belfast has been a first for Northern Ireland and has been a fascinating project. We extended our role from delivering the Bombardier facility itself, to working with a new client, FCG and Equitix, on an innovative project that will produce 14.85MW of cheap electricity.

Q. What do you most enjoy most about working at Turner & Townsend?

A. The people I work with and the enthusiastic team in Belfast. I also work with a great network of other directors across the business. Everyone really pulls together and works as one business. We get superb support for a small regional office, which is important when it comes to tendering for big bids and delivering complex projects.

Q. How do you see your career progressing at Turner & Townsend?

A. I’m excited about the future rollout of new digital tools and apps. Having seen some of the early versions of what’s to come, I can say with confidence that our people really will be blown away by the potential disruption to the industry that our professional use of data will have.
