Toy library for the children of Kwanonqaba

In July we opened the second toy library in South Africa’s Western Cape.

The latest library is in the township of Kwanonqaba in Mossel Bay, which lies midway between the coastal cities of Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

Representatives from Mossel Baytown, PetroSA and consultancy Edengro, with whom we developed the library, all attended the opening event alongside local children.

Speaking at the launch, senior cost manager Winstone Mashimbye highlighted both the social and economic benefits that toy libraries bring.

As well as helping family budgets and encouraging interaction among children and parents, toy libraries encourage children’s development through social play and learning.
