Success at the British Council for Offices awards

Working in collaboration with our clients and their teams, we won two awards at the 2020 British Council for Offices (BCO) awards.

Live Works for Live Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne won the Projects up to 1,500m2 category. Live Theatre completed the development of the site on the Newcastle Quayside, which has remained vacant for over a century. This new build development includes a new mixed-use office facility with the space for a café or retail unit to the ground floor frontage.

Lucy Bird, Director of Development and Enterprise at Live Theatre said:

Live Theatre is over the moon with Live Works. Newcastle’s Quayside is a conservation area and throughout the project we were always mindful of the responsibility we had to ensure the new building remained sympathetic to its context and that its build quality matched that of the listed buildings surrounding it on all sides.

The quality of the architecture, lighting, landscaping and internal finishes in this historic setting is of utmost importance to us and to our stakeholders. The project exceeds everyone’s expectations.

PwC, One Embankment Place won the Test of Time category. As part of a seven-year programme to consolidate nine buildings into two, PwC elected to completely refurbish One Embankment Place, its headquarters since 1991.

Stephen Walker, Director said:

Embankment Place represents one of the most significant workplace design programmes of its time and provides a benchmark for agile working and alternative work settings for many firms today.

As project and cost managers we delivered the project within a continually occupied building, decanting staff within, and managing interfaces with Network Rail and other neighbours.

We are immensely proud of our contribution and relationship with the delivery team at PwC.
