Strengthening our expertise on a&o’s new hotel and hostel in Copenhagen
We have been chosen as project and cost managers on a&o’s latest hotel and hostel investment in Copenhagen, Denmark, which forms part of its expansion plans.
The project will regenerate a former office building in the city’s industrial area, which is currently undergoing major redevelopment. Two existing buildings will be converted into a 219 bedroom hotel and hostel, complete with a canteen and reception area.
A total of 7,300m2 will be renovated from ground to sixth floor in one building and ground to fourth floor in the other. The two buildings will be linked by walkway bridges to bring them together and create a cohesive space.
a&o is the largest privately owned hostel chain in Europe, operating 39 facilities in 23 cities. The company aims to create a professional, inexpensive and central place to stay for backpackers, youth groups and families. Its buildings provide a unique combination of hotel and hostel under one roof.
Nima Nicolas Aase, Director commented:
Our appointment to this exciting project strengthens our capability in the local market and allows us to expand our services in Copenhagen from our Stockholm office. This is our third commission with a&o in Europe, following the successful completion of hostels in both Poland and Germany, and it highlights our growing expertise in the Scandinavian market.”
The project is due to complete in May 2020.
