We have helped international insurance firm Zurich Insurance Group secure the lease for its new German headquarters in Cologne.

  • We provided technical advice for new lease agreement for Swiss insurer’s German headquarters
  • New office space in Cologne to replace two outdated sites, providing space for 2,700 staff
  • Set to be one of the largest construction and development projects in the city – due for completion by 2019

The 60,000m2 headquarters will replace two existing, outdated offices in Bonn and Cologne. Construction on the building, due to start imminently, will eventually be home to 2,700 staff, who will be relocated to the one site.

Our main role over the past year has been as technical advisor to obtain the 15 year lease. We also provided multi-stakeholder management, cost consulting and evaluation of tenders ahead of the developer procurement process.

Dominic Honey, Head of Major Programmes said: “We have been working extremely closely with Zurich to help ensure everything was in place for the lease to be finally agreed and signed.

“Now the major work of construction and development begins. The new HQ will provide state-of-the-art, flexible working spaces.”

Horst Nussbaumer, Chief Claims Officer, Zurich Germany, added: “Turner & Townsend’s contribution has been important in getting us to the point at which we could confidently sign the lease for our new offices which will bring many business functions under one roof. This is an exciting step for our business and our employees as we build for the future.”
