Delivering project support services to iconic Manhattan hotel
We have been selected to help support a multi-million pound refurbishment of one of New York’s finest hotels.
The owner of Langham Place, New York, Fifth Avenue, has appointed us to provide project support services for the multi-million pound upgrade of the iconic Manhattan landmark.
The refurbishment – part of a company strategy to enhance the hotel’s reputation for chic, contemporary style – comprises a soft refurbishment of the 214 guest rooms across its 22 floors. Our appointment follows our successful support in the remodeling and delivery of the third floor conference room suites and fourth floor gym.
The project, which is being carried out while the hotel remains open to guests, also includes modernising the back of house operations and main entrance lobby area together with a new spa.
The refresh of the five-star hotel is expected to be finished by summer 2016, in time for a programme of key events taking place in New York.
Stephen Gibson, Director of Cost Management said:
“Such a complex and high-profile refurbishment – which is to be carried out while the hotel remains open – poses a unique challenge. Turner & Townsend’s combination of global best practice and local market knowledge means it is uniquely well-equipped to meet that challenge.
“We swiftly assembled a project team to document Langham Place’s current operations, and set up effective project controls and lines of communication to give the client real-time access to the critical information it needs to make effective decisions.”
Richard Bussiere, Managing Director for Langham Place, New York added:
“Langham Place prides itself on offering its guests a stay unlike any other. Our luxury, contemporary style is at the heart of our proposition, and this refurbishment will ensure it continues to be so.
“After discussions with our Project Management Group, Turner & Townsend has proved its pedigree working on projects at other Langham hotels, and the consultancy was the natural choice to support this set of works at Langham Place in the heart of Manhattan.”
We are currently working on a pipeline of new projects on behalf of Langham Hospitality Group, Langham Place’s parent company, and have previously completed work on The Langham, Melbourne and The Langham, Sydney in Australia.
