Contributing to our local communities

Our people are delivering on community pledges to make a difference to their communities.

Last year we asked everyone at Turner & Townsend to make a pledge – a personal commitment to contribute to their local communities.

We are genuine about creating a positive impact on society. To celebrate community week 2017, we found out what people across our global business have done to deliver on their pledges and change lives in their communities.

Abigail Giljum, HR Associate Director in our Abu Dhabi office, mentored a school student to improve their employability skills. Abigail said: ”This is my opportunity to develop and empower the next generation of leaders and decision makers. It is far better to embed the right behaviours and skills at an early age which will hopefully make a lasting and positive impact.”

U-Kidd Chong, Senior Project Manager in our Kuala Lumpur office, coordinated an initiative to collect and distribute food for homeless people with a local charity. U-Kidd said: “I have always loved contributing to my community. The most rewarding aspect of participating is knowing you can make a difference. I have found that there is no contribution too small.”

Bill McElroy, Managing Director in our London office, pledged to mentor senior leaders in our UK charity partner Action for Children to help the charity become more efficient, providing even more support to children and young people. Bill said: “It was immensely rewarding getting the feedback that my input had helped the charity achieve change.”
