Australia celebrates triple success at the Project Management Achievement Awards

Our Australia team has enjoyed triple success at the 2020 Project Management Achievement Awards.

Hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management, the Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAAs) were held virtually on Wednesday 25 November. The awards recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in programme and project leadership across the country.

With seven of our award submissions shortlisted by the judges, the winning projects were the Salisbury Community Hub and the Attorney Generals’ Department Integrated fit-out in South Australia, and URBNSURF Melbourne in Victoria.

We also won the People’s Choice Award for RAAF Base Williamtown (New South Wales), George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens – Visitor & Event Centre (Northern Territory), Cairns Airport T2 Domestic Terminal Upgrade (Queensland), The Salisbury Community Hub (South Australia) and URBNSURF Melbourne (Victoria).

The winning projects

The Salisbury Community Hub is the catalyst project of the Salisbury City Centre Renewal Strategy and facilitates a significant organisational transformation in the way the council’s administration works and delivers services to the community. Since its completion, the hub has been extremely popular with the local community, as evidenced through a 92 percent uplift in visitation

The $26.6million Attorney General’s Department integrated fit-out project provided a new workplace for 730 staff, as well as a minister’s office over 12,188 sqm2 of office space across the top nine levels of the newly constructed GPO Tower, owned by Charter Hall. We successfully project managed the delivery of a modern contemporary fit-out that supported transformative ways of working with greater collaboration and use of technology.

Next generation wave generating technology has been used to create perfect surfing waves at URBNSURF Melbourne, Australia’s first surf park located at Melbourne Airport. URBNSURF’s two-hectare surfing lagoon delivers authentic surfing waves that can be customised for riders of all abilities in a safe, controlled environment. We were appointed as project manager and to act as superintendent for this state-of-the-art project.

Anooj Oodit, Managing Director of Asia Pacific, commented:

“I am extremely proud of our project management teams who have played a key role to ensure the successful delivery of the Salisbury Community Hub, the Attorney Generals’ Department integrated fit-out and URBNSURF.  To receive this prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our highly experienced teams who continue to make an impact on our clients, projects and communities."
