Appointment of Michael Sanig expands our contract services division

We have appointed Michael Sanig to the position of Director, Contract Services to boost our presence along the Eastern seaboard in Australia.

Mr Sanig, a chartered quantity surveyor and construction lawyer, brings to the role a wealth of commercial construction experience gained over the past 30 years from both professional and contracting sides of the industry.

For seven and a half years he was the National Construction and Equipment Manager for Woolworths Supermarkets with a budget in excess of $500 million per annum. He subsequently performed a similar role for Telstra rolling out new shops for the business across the country. Additional high profile projects that Mr Sanig has worked on throughout his career include a $1.2 billion railway utility procurement project and a $650 million roads and civil engineering project in New South Wales (NSW).

Mr Sanig is an experienced expert witness in construction and engineering disputes and is listed on the expert witness registers of both the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

He has appeared as an expert witness in the NSW and Victorian Supreme Courts, the NSW District Court and Land and Environment Courts providing reports for a range of matters including a $150 million claim on a road contract, a $30 million claim concerning defective composter machines, building cost advice for a NSW coronial inquiry and valuation of a rail crash in Queensland.

He specialises in pre-contract drafting and procurement advice as well as post-contract administration, claims drafting, analysis and the resolution of disputes through arbitration, mediation, conciliation and expert determination.
