We offer a variety of areas for graduates and placement students to utilise and develop their skills. When you apply to one of our programmes (graduate, summer placement or year placement) you can let us know if you have a preference for one of our technical specialisms or a particular location. For those who are open to all specialisms, there will also be a flexible option so that you can be considered for various roles across our business.
Graduate Development Programme
Our Graduate Development Programme (GDP) is a structured learning environment providing graduates with the skills and experience they need to be a successful consultant. Over the two-year programme, you will receive market-leading training through our technical training academy as well as a range of soft-skills and on-the-job learning.
The GDP is blended with external qualifications and professional accreditation including RICS, APM, CIOB and ICE to ensure you become an industry-leading professional. With everything logged on our online learning platform, a graduate development manager, central development team, line manager and buddy, you will have all the tools and support needed to excel and achieve your career goals.
The GDP is designed to be:
- A platform to enhance knowledge and gain first-hand experience
- A training schedule to support and capture your learning and development needs and achievements
- A learning tool document to track and report the development of your capabilities.
We provide opportunities for those at university to gain valuable industry experience during their degree and earn while they learn through a structured year-placement. Applicants should be completing a year in industry as part of their degree course. This placement is particularly suitable for those currently studying a built environment degree.
We provide summer placements for students in their penultimate year at university but will consider those in their first year or second year of a four year course. The placements usually start in June and will last 10-12 weeks. This placement is suitable for anyone wanting to gain an insight into the construction industry.
If you complete a placement with us, you will have the opportunity to fast-track on to another placement or directly on to the GDP. Your fast-track route will be determined by the amount of time you have left at university. If you are just returning for your final year, we will be able to fast-track you straight on to the GDP.
Placements allow you to get a head start in your career before you have graduated and give you an opportunity to gain an insight into a career with us.

We encourage all candidates to be as mobile as they can to make the most of the opportunities available to them. Due to the nature of our work, you will not necessarily be based in our office location as you may visit and work from client sites over the course of your graduate programme. For some offices you may also need a valid UK driving licence and your own means of transport due to the location of some of our clients.

Controls and performance is a vital part of modern project delivery. Working with big data, software and complex systems, the project team will look to you as the oracle of knowledge to support informed decision making. If you are interested in risk, project planning, cost control or implementing the latest project management software, then a career in controls and performance may be for you. Suitable for both the analytical mind and the social butterfly, you will excel as you build project delivery plans, interrogate million pound cost estimates and roll out the processes and tools necessary to track and control project performance. Project management reduces risk and helps clients deliver projects in a consistent and improved manner. Project managers are responsible for the day-to-day management of the various aspects of the project, working collaboratively with different disciplines. In your role, you will support the project management commissions, taking responsibility for effectively delivering a vast range of tasks to the highest quality standard. Some of the key responsibilities will be establishing effective processes and systems to be used throughout the project, producing project plans and preparing written project communication materials. The SHQ team cover everything from construction design and management, fire, quality and management systems to training and access consultancy. You will gain experience working in a large team to learn our methodologies as well as having the opportunity to manage your own project independently with accountability for delivery and generating income. You will receive training and support to develop your skills alongside your preferred route to become an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health chartered professional. Roles within the SHQ team are only available in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
Advisory provides a range of specialist services that complement the programme and project delivery capability of our core sectors: real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources. During the two year graduate programme, you will gain experience working in a large team to learn our methodologies as well as having the opportunity to manage your own project independently with accountability for delivery and generating income. You will provide management consultancy support on asset strategy, programme set-up and delivery, performance improvement and operational excellence. Learn more about advisory.
Roles in the advisory team are only available in London, Newcastle and Birmingham.
Our programme advisory experts put in place strategies to control and manage the risks and challenges for our projects. They set up realistic performance baselines, establishing the capabilities and infrastructure needed for clients to deliver successful outcomes. The team achieves this by setting up programmes at every stage of the lifecycle, creating the right balance across culture, capabilities, processes and systems needed to succeed to ensure that outcomes can be achieved to time and budget.
Roles in the Programme Advisory team are only available in London and Bristol.
Our contract services ‘intelligent procurement’ approach provides a procurement pathway from business and programme level strategy to contract award, managing the procurement process, implementing consistent procedures and engaging the supply chain. The team develop contract & commercial solutions for our clients which help maximise value from the supply chain and mitigate contractual risk. Our procurement & contract experts provide support and guidance to our clients through each stage of the process in order to develop optimised procurement solutions that deliver efficiencies and cost savings against their business requirements. The technology team works to make technology smarter for a variety of clients. The team can drive the right technology and data strategy from the start, setting up programmes and projects to establish effective information management, integrated reporting and collaborative delivery. The role gives you the opportunity to gain experience across all four service areas within the technology team, covering solutions advisory, building information modelling (BIM), capital projects and data & analytics. The asset management programme would give you the chance to work for AMCL, a Turner & Townsend company and global leader in asset management. You will work in the Europe team and support the Europe Delivery Manager in implementing a variety of consultancy and transformation projects for high profile infrastructure managers across multiple sectors. You will work on various asset management related projects including asset management system design, business architecture design, asset information and cost modelling projects. AMCL only has opportunities in London.
Cost management is vital in delivering the best value to our clients and maximising their return on investment. You will support the commission manager by delivering a wide range of tasks to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include: estimating and producing cost plans, drafting the procurement documentation, checking and analysing tenders, conducting cost checks and valuations, analysing the numbers for the final accounts and liaising with the client, contractors and designers. Economics and market intelligence
The Economics and Market Intelligence team combines economic theory and data analytics capabilities to create market leading insight and forecasting models for the business and our clients. Barclays, Heathrow Airport Limited and UBER are just a few of the key clients we have supported. This role gives you the opportunity to apply economic principles to real world outcomes, identifying economic conditions that may have a direct and indirect effect on the construction industry. In addition, the programme will increase your understanding of how economic data flows can be best structured to deliver meaningful analysis to business stakeholders.
We can only offer placement roles in the economic and market intelligence team. These are only available in Leeds.

For year placements you should be completing a year in industry as part of your degree course. For summer placements you should currently be at university with at least a year left to complete following your placement. We expect you to be on track for a 2:1 or first in your degree.

1 – Pre-application
You can meet the team at one of our events to discuss the graduate and placement opportunities we offer.
2 – Online application
Submit your CV and complete the online application questions. It is here that you will need to add you preferred locations along with outlining your programme preferences.
3 – Video interview
If your online application is successful you will be asked to complete a video interview. The interview will focus on competency questions as well as your motivation for the opportunities we offer. Please make sure you have done your research as you will be asked questions around our business and the projects we work on.
4 – Assessment centre
If your video interview is successful you will be invited to an assessment centre. This will focus on different competencies along with your motivation to join our business and the work we do. If you are invited to an assessment centre full details of this will be sent to you in advance of the day so you will know what to prepare. 5 – Onboarding
If you are made an offer to join our business you will need to complete the onboarding process. At this stage you will be made aware of the team and location you will be working in.
