| Principal Contractor (Co-ordination
Role)
The Principal Contractor (PC) is responsible for ensuring
health and safety standards are maintained on site throughout
the project. This can often be an onerous task due to the
nature of construction work and traditionally held values
and attitudes.
Turner & Townsend have been called upon to fulfil this
role on a number of high profile projects where the need
for experienced and knowledgeable construction health and
safety consultants has been recognised by the client.
One crucial element of the PC’s duties is ensuring
the site is secure from unauthorised access (this is one
of only two of the Regulations which is not excluded from
civil liability).
