Client’s requirements

Western Sydney Airport (WSA) is an AUD5.3bn development and the first greenfield airport to be delivered in Australia in decades. It will cater for domestic and international flights.

A nationally significant infrastructure investment, it’s set to become a leading modern airport utilising international best practice in its design and operations. Delivery is scheduled for 2026.

The Australian Government appointed AECOM Australia, with Turner & Townsend as a key sub consultant, to set up the WSA programme management office and provide strategic advice to the government throughout this nine-year programme.

Our contribution

Our role is to lead the PMTS (Project Management and Technical Services) Team and PMO Office, provide program management and controls advice and supporting AECOM with the review and approval of design documentation, construction programmes and other deliverables prepared by the airport developers, WSA Co.

We are working with AECOM Australia to bring specialist aviation, construction, and design expertise, to support the Western Sydney Unit within the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Cities.

Our objective is to support the Australian Government to successfully oversee the development of the new Western Sydney Airport over the next 9 years.
