Turner & Townsend's "rising stars" featured on Construction News

On 7 June, 2018, Construction News featured three of our talented "rising stars". They were invited to a panel to discuss why construction struggles to attract young people and shed light on possible solutions.

Gareth Bevins, project controls engineer, Jonathan Hardisty, project manager and Richard Wood, director, all from Turner & Townsend, participated in the panel alongside Sarah Beale (CITB), Cameron Bell (Skanska UK), Roseanna Bloxham (RSK Group), Najwa Jawahar (WSP), Lianne Lawson (Willmott Dixon), Jonathan May (Stantec Treatment), Jeanette McLean (Walker Construction UK), Rachel Toor (Shaylor Group) and Rebecca Wade (Kier).

The panel first discussed setbacks they experienced when entering the construction sector, such as rigid recruitment processes or their initial false perceptions of the industry, and went on to explain how the public’s usually one-dimensional image of construction business presents the biggest challenge when attracting new talent.
