Open for business at Dubai International Airport
Flight operations have commenced for the first time at Dubai International Airport’s concourse D, where up to 70 international airlines are expected to operate from.
We undertook quantity surveying services on the USD1.2bn facility, which spans a built up area of 15 hectares. Designed around a central atrium, Concourse D offers short walks to open gates, allowing travellers to board directly from the waiting area.
HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Airports, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, remarked: "We continue to invest in the development of top-flight infrastructure to augment service levels for our international airlines and their customers while providing the capacity needed to meet growing demand. Concourse D has been designed with the customer at its heart."
The opening comes as operator Dubai Airports predicts that 85 million passengers will use Dubai International Airport this year.
