Continuing role on Qatar’s mega-highways programme
Our role on Qatar’s multibillion-dollar Expressway Programme has been extended for a fifth year.
Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) has reappointed us to the programme management team to oversee one of the world’s largest road infrastructure projects for the Public Works Authority of Qatar (‘Ashghal’).
Vital to the successful hosting of the World Cup in 2022 and to achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030 development goals, the aim of the Expressway Programme is to increase mobility, reduce travel times and improve public safety.
The programme will provide transportation links across Qatar, connecting key locations including the new industrial city of Ras Laffan and Hamad Port, the world’s largest greenfield port currently under construction. It involves 800km of highway, more than 200 major interchanges, over 30 major projects and numerous smaller projects.
We work as an integrated part of the KBR-led team, providing services in procurement, post-contract administration and claims support.
Mark Dyson, Director Turner & Townsend, said: “This is a huge complex programme, made more challenging by the difficult economic climate in Qatar. It is a testament to our team’s capability and professionalism that KBR has extended our contract with an option to extend further.”
