The Performance Forum will host its 7th annual workshop in Amsterdam under the theme ‘Adapting to a new reality: seizing opportunities to maximise value’. The 2-day workshop will facilitate discussions with key industry experts to allow for open debate of the opportunities arising and how to learn lessons from each other.

Aileen Jamieson, Performance Forum Global Director will launch proceedings with an opening address before handing over to the Vice President of Project Services at Shell, Hans Mes, who will deliver this year’s keynote speech, “A brave new world: Achieving a step change in project competitiveness”.

The keynote will be followed by a case study of the highly anticipated Culzean North Sea project presented by Maersk Oil. This mega-complex project is currently under construction and remains ahead of schedule and under budget, and the project services manager will be sharing his tips for successful project delivery.

A facilitated panel discussion will follow, with lessons shared by Performance Forum members. These will focus on the key issues the industry is currently facing including:

  • Changes in people - headcount/experienced resources/team structure/outsourcing
  • Changes in scope - smaller phases/standardisation/bare-bones/necessary now/technology/digitalisation
  • Changes in collaboration - shift in the supply chain/ risk sharing/contract strategy
  • Changes in pace - how nimble are you to change/how quickly are you adapting to the new reality/drivers

The remainder of day 1 and day 2 will be dedicated to understanding and debating the impact of digitisation, how the low cost environment is impacting benchmarking metrics, the impact of local content, and the road-testing of a new decommissioning cost reduction tool.

Once again, the Performance Forum annual workshop is set to explore the latest thinking in the oil and gas industry. After a barren two years, projects are starting to come off the drawing board and into the field. This is the time to debate and capitalise on the opportunities facing the sector. This not to be missed 2-day workshop will help Performance Forum members address their most critical business challenges and make better commercial decisions
