Creating life-changing career opportunities

Over six million young adults across the US are disconnected from stable career pathways. They have the talent to build fulfilling careers but lack access to opportunities that can turn their abilities into long-term sustainable employment.

We’re helping to bridge this opportunity divide in partnership with Year Up, by providing work experiences to young people from diverse backgrounds and broadening their insights into business.

For many the experience is life-changing. David Davila joined Turner & Townsend for a six-month internship and is one of the great success stories. He felt stuck in a dead-end job, knew he had the potential to do more and sought a professional role with a rewarding career path.

“Just a year ago my life was completely different and full of uncertainties. Now I’m focused on building a career that I can be proud of by learning new skills, building a network and seizing opportunities to travel.”

  • 8 Year Up placements
  • 106 school leaver and work experience opportunities

Through the Year Up programme, David completed an internship in our New York office and progressed so well that he was offered a permanent role.

“I’ve really enjoyed the exposure to different disciplines and have learnt about cost and project management across a range of projects, including Time Warner’s flagship headquarters, an exciting project on an amazing scale.”

David is now helping to establish project controls at the New York Power Authority and has returned to his studies to achieve a qualification in business management. He explains how Year Up has changed his life:
