Driving social mobility through employability programmes

We are growing our partnership with JINC, who reach 48,000 children every year across the Netherlands. Together we are boosting social mobility by leading inspiring experiences that help young people gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

In January, we supported JINC’s Tomorrow’s CEO initiative for the second year running. The initiative gives young people the opportunity to shadow senior business leaders for the day; familiarising them with the job market and providing an understanding of what it takes to lead a company.

15-year-old Raisa, from a school in south-east Amsterdam, spent the day with our Real Estate Director, Rob Lith.

After visiting a Turner & Townsend fit-out project next to Schiphol airport, Raisa interviewed our local team on how to increase our brand profile. She said:

 

I particularly enjoyed seeing how real offices operate, finding out why people chose their career and what they really liked about them.

"I learnt a lot from the day including how management is all about creating the best work environment for collaboration. It is all about coaching people and making the right decisions.”

This year, we are increasing the number and type of interactions we offer students to help raise aspirations and fuel curiosity in our industry. Through this, we are contributing to social mobility and the charity’s overall ambition of ensuring that a child’s background does not determine their future.
