Siemens City, Vienna, Austria
Case study | Siemens City Vienna
The opening of Siemens City in Vienna in June 2010 marked the end of a groundbreaking four year commission for Turner & Townsend. It is the latest major office complex we have helped deliver for this long-standing global client, and a world class example of energy-efficient construction and innovative environmental technology - an achievement we are proud to have helped deliver within meticulously engineered cost targets.
Siemens appointed us to provide project management, utilisation management, space planning and sustainability certification services to help create a superb working environment for 6,000 Siemens staff in the Austrian capital. The €150m complex includes a full range of energy efficiency technology including waste heat recapture, sensor-controlled room lighting and heating, solar water-heating, and a striking new tower building that rests on 120 pillars of conducting pipes sunk 30 metres into the earth, providing natural heating in winter and cooling in summer. The complex was certified to US GreenBuilding Gold standard by a Turner & Townsend LEED accredited consultant, and has received EU green building status for energy efficiency.
