Turner & Townsend supported the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) by playing host to the prestigious 2010 Pro-Yorkshire awards launch event yesterday evening at the Stanhope Buildings, part of their Head Office complex in Leeds.

Attended by key players in the construction industry, the event launched the region’s 2010 property ‘Oscars’ with a call for award entries starting a six month search to find next year’s construction projects that have made the most significant contribution to the region. The winning schemes will be revealed at a glittering awards dinner to be held on 14 May 2010 in Leeds.

Turner & Townsend’s offices provided the ideal venue for the launch allowing the company to showcase its Stanhope Buildings described by judges as ‘a magnificent example of commercial property’, the Buildings won the Commercial category in the 2009 Pro Yorkshire Awards, which were held back in May.

In 2008 Turner & Townsend transformed the 16th century listed barns adjacent to their Head Office to accommodate their growing team of professionals in an airy, exciting office space, which was entered the restoration into awards last year.

Turner & Townsend was highly acclaimed at the 2009 Awards with five projects recognised in the Yorkshire region including Yorkshire Building of the Year for the beautifully refurbished Royal Hall in Harrogate.

Colin Harrop, RICS Yorkshire & Humber Regional Board Chair and Chair of the Pro Yorkshire Awards Judging Panel commented:

"The 2009 RICS award winning Stanhope Buildings in Horsforth provided a perfect venue to launch the RICS 2010 property awards. We have seen a year-on-year increase in the number of entries for the awards and the head office of Turner & Townsend, which won the 2009 Commercial Category, underlines the quality achieved by a winning scheme. We look forward to the Pro Yorkshire Awards in 2010 with real enthusiasm that the professionals in our region will be able to maintain such high standards."

Turner & Townsend director, Nick Townsend, said:

“We are proud to support the RICS awards in Yorkshire. The quality of the projects showcased in 2009 was exceptional and we look forward to supporting our clients with contributions to the 2010 awards.”
