India’s largest network experience centre sets new standard for telecommunications sector
Date: 13 December 2012
We are delighted to announce the completion of leading telecommunications services provider Bharti Airtel’s (Airtel) groundbreaking new Network Experience Centre in Manesar, India.
Turner & Townsend provided full project management, cost management, ICT management and construction management services for the project, which will allow Airtel to monitor the services, including mobile and broadband networks, of its 200 million customers across India and South Asia from a single location.
The Network Experience Centre houses one of the biggest video walls in the world with 3600 square feet of solid state LED screen to monitor telecom network.
Setting another benchmark for the country’s telecommunications sector, the network operation centre is flexibly designed to accommodate future shifts in data usage patterns, as technologies, such as 3G and 4G networks, evolve. As an earthquake-proof facility it has also been created to provide additional network resources to the government and other operators in times of emergency.
Commenting on the project, Turner & Townsend India Country Manager, Mark Richards said: “This has been one of the most technology intensive projects Turner & Townsend has worked on and it is a tribute to all that have worked on the project to have delivered such a ground breaking feat of engineering with such a breathtaking and awe-inspiring result.
“The new network operation centre will allow Airtel to deliver a best-in-class experience for its customers, helping the company to manage its layers of complex networks, products and operations, as well as offering a Service Management Centre (SMC) for end to end of services such as billing.
