"I originally joined in mid 2009 as a PA / Team Secretary to our UK consultancy team and directors. After expressing an interest in marketing, I was transferred in to the business development team as the Business Development Assistant late in 2010. I was given the chance to make the role my own and I am now the Global Marketing Advisor."

What made you choose Turner & Townsend?

When I joined I could see Turner & Townsend had a lot to offer. They were rapidly expanding and had a clear vision and it sounded like an exciting company to be part of with the opportunity to progress.

Describe a typical day at work.

Working in the marketing department is diverse and fast paced so a typical day does not exist for me! I do a lot of copywriting and editing and also advise on the best way to get our corporate message and image across to our clients through our presentations and documents.

What has been your proudest achievement at work?

Probably writing my first story for our intranet and seeing the hits for it, there are nearly 2,700 of us so having half of them take the time to read my work is very rewarding, I still get the feeling now!

How has Turner & Townsend helped you to achieve your career goals?

They have allowed me to grow and have supported me all the way. I am set new career goals each year so it is good to have something to strive for, it keeps you motivated and on track.

How would you describe the culture at Turner & Townsend?

We have a great culture at Turner & Townsend, if you walk past someone you don’t know in the office they will still smile and say hello. We are a social bunch, banter flies around but you can always count on people to help you when you need it.

What advice would you give to someone considering working in your field?

I would say consider your skills, are you more business development, marketing or communications? They all differ!

Where did you study and what first attracted you to Turner & Townsend?

I actually don’t have a degree, I was Turner & Townsend’s youngest employee until a few months ago, I joined when I was 19! I am currently studying for a professional qualification, it is a challenge to juggle exams and coursework with a full time job!

What qualities do you need to be successful at Turner & Townsend and in your role?

We are known for going over and above what is expected of us, you need to put in 110 percent effort as a minimum. We are all friendly so being approachable and personable is also key.

What has surprised you most about working at Turner & Townsend?

The amount of major multi-national clients we work for or have worked for. You think of a company and 90 percent of the time we have worked with them.
